Most starter and alternator rebuilds are bench jobs that complete within two to four working days, depending on parts availability and the condition found once the unit is opened. We confirm the timeline when the unit is booked in, and we call before starting any work that goes beyond the original diagnosis. Fleet units can be scheduled into reserved slots to keep vehicles moving.
Yes, every unit is measured on the bench before a repair is quoted. For a starter we record no-load spin, current draw under load, and solenoid behavior. For an alternator we record output across shaft speeds and test each diode. For an ignition coil we run a hot-soak test. The recorded figures travel with the unit so you can see exactly what was found.
We reserve winter bench slots for Calgary fleets ahead of the first cold snap. A fleet survey records battery age, cable and lug condition, alternator output, and starter draw across model lines, and the results let a fleet manager schedule rotating service around routes.
